Anchoring Allyship - Part 1
Guiding and Working with Trans & Nonbinary Clients in Outdoor Recreation

Looking to provide services that leave trans, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming clients feeling empowered in the outdoors and wanting to return? Designed for guides, instructors, and other service providers, this interactive training explores the experiences of trans individuals in outdoor recreation and tools to better meet their needs. Participants will examine what’s at the heart of mistakes, how to recover from them, and how to communicate with and about trans, nonbinary, and intersex individuals. From workshopping client scenarios, to identifying specific recommendations, this training provides participants with a non-judgmental space to ask tough questions and to dig deeper into what allyship can really look like in the outdoors.
Sliding Scale Pricing $50 - $100 per person.
Sliding Scale Pricing: Rise Outside and Lyndon Cudlitz value both the accessibility of learning opportunities and the recognition of the labor of trans facilitators. Therefore, participants who are able to contribute at the higher end of the scale are making participation possible for others with less access to resources, rights, and safety.
Please consider the higher end of this scale if you travel to guide/work in multiple locations, are a homeowner, possess a college degree, are white, are a man, are able to afford your healthcare, and/or if your costs are being covered by an employer.
Please consider the lower end of this scale if you guide/work in one location, do not have a permanent residence, have not attended college, are Black and/or Indigenous, are not a man, have significant healthcare expenses, and/or if you are an independent guide/instructor.

He is the former Board VP of CRUX, an NYC-based LGBTQ climbing nonprofit and continues now as its NY Capital Region Coordinator.
